Raw Footage

This is the video containing the raw footage of the construction for our music video.

Survey monkey results

Here are the results that we were able to gather from the survey. From this, we can build up more information about our audience's thoughts about the genre of ska.

Music video interview feedback

Darwin's video from Darwin Serrano on Vimeo.

Here, i have interviewed a few of volunteers about their thoughts on our music video and asked them for what we could improve on.

Interim Evaluation for Music Video

During the process of making our music video we thought that it would be very creative to try and recreate Justin Biebers 'where are you now?' editing technique of the doodles around the moving image of a singer. however, we worked out that the way to recreate that is far too long of process for the time we had, so as a replacement we green-screened ben and put the background behind as an image of white with either coloured or black and white doodles on which would change in time with the moves Ben was completing. We then decided this wasn't an effective part of the video and that it needed to be changed. So our second idea was to put it in from of a scene we had filmed of cars passing by, however this made it more obvious it was green screened and it was all a little too odd. So our final idea was to draw a doodle only on the outside and layer it up in different colours so it built as they clip went a long and we thought this was the most effective idea out of our trial and error for the green screen.

Audience feedback

These are some comments we received minutes after posting our final music video !!!! We took on board the criticism of the lip syncing and have changed to adapt the audiences needs.

Interim evaluation for digipak

The first design I had created for the digipak on the front was too simplistic, therefore we decided to create another design, so I had then started the inside-left design. After having created the inside-left through editing on Photoshop, I had created something which looked quite fun with cubes, waves at the bottom and instruments that were relevant to our music video e.g. a trumpet and microphone. However, I had been constructing the design all in black and white and not in full colours (RGB), therefore it did not look as appealing and as fun as, us, as a group together wanted.

Since then I have improved the front-left digipak cover and it is now much more colourful, and agrees with the colour scheme. I had also changed the front-right digipak (under the CD) to agree with the colour scheme, as each side is colourful and it looks much more professional when they all have a similar look.

Interim- evaluation for music video

We originally had a different idea for out music video. It was suppose to be about the problems with a couple's relationship. This is seen from our animatics.

During the process of constructing our music video, we overcome some problems that we had to solve. First problem was having more footage to fit with genre of the music video. For example, we added a footage of ducks which really didn't fit with the music and it looks silly to put use for the music video. Now we change it with a close up with dancing feet.

The second problem we had was that some of the clips were too long for example, Darwin's green screen clip.

The third problem was the lip syncing, there are some part of the music video were the lip syncing was off sync. I had to ensure that I have to sync the footage to the music and re-film if the lip syncing is completely out of sync with the song.

Another problem was Ben's green screen. This problem took the longest to solve because we had difficulties of making up ideas for it. But, at the end I fixed the problem by using a similar editing technique that is used in "Where are u now".

Interim- evaluation for digipak

For our finished digipak, the group thought that it went well and it looks good. However, we had problems that we went through and had to sort out quickly. Firstly when we started designing with our front cover the design that one of our group did looked very good on paper but when we put it together in Photoshop it looked awful and we thought it looked like a birthday party invitation. We had to quickly think for another idea and research more. Finally, we found what we want and stayed with the idea and it went well.

Before we leave for our Christmas holiday I sent the front cover, back cover and the spine to be assessed by our teacher. Their feedback was to make the spine clearer and we had to increase the song list at back cover. After the feedback was given I added more songs on the back cover and made the spine clearer by adding a black outline.

After finishing the designs for the inside left and right covers for the digipak I put all the designs together and had it assessed by another media group and gave use feedback about our digipak. They said that the outside covers fit together and the inside covers fit together but it doesn't fit all together.
But now it is all fixed and we are happy with our final design on our digipak.

Ideas for Digipak

Our main ideas for our front and bank covers came from these images

Communication

We used Facebook Messenger to communicate with each other and plan what were are going to do with our music video. we use to organize our time filming and editing our video. We also use it to help each other when we miss our lesson and give them the homework that they need to do. Messenger is very helpful because where able to communicate with each other and organize our time and make the effort to do our project.

Analysis of other music video

I looked up other music videos to get some ideas to use in our own music video. The first music video is 7/11 by Beyonce, the music video is very simple and it mainly features Beyonce dancing. I think that the video fits with music because it's upbeat. Similarly the second music video, "Where Are U Now" by Skrillex and Diplo with Justin Bieber is an upbeat song. however, the video is more complex because of the editing technique that is being used.

I also looked up other A2 music video and see how they did theirs and techniques that we could use for our own music video.

Green screen moving image practice

We were practicing our green screen on moving images which we were going to include into our music video. The practice went really well and we had some good outcomes out of it and we have used these images in our music video. As you can see in some of the images we were unable to get a full green background and some wall was in it, but on final cut we over came this problem through cropping the image so that it worked well.

Magazine Ad ideas

These posted notes are some of the ideas that of my group came up with to be added in the Magazine Ad.

Editing techniques

From this music video, we used the same editing technique which is layering. Layering is when you have two or more video clips to put together. One of the image or clip will be transparent and it will give a slow motion effect or a delay.

Most effective location

I think this was an effective idea of location when filming our chorus. The reason i think the location is suitable is because it gives off the idea that they are performing on the stage because of the black background and lighting. I feel like because we had the option of the lighting it was effective as we could choose one where it felt like real stage lighting. We also had the options of levels by using the stage blocks which i feel makes them look like an actual band which is why i feel this was a suitable location.
