Ben music video still

This still/sequence shows the DJ genre. It represents it firstly through the cinematography. The camera is focusing on the DJ in the foreground as the centre of attention, with the stage in the background to emphasise him playing on a live stage. In the still Ben is wearing a pair of headphones which is a part of mise-en-scene and helps the audience to identify and verify him as the DJ which is relevant to the genre. The use of green-screening as shown in the before and after photo places Ben onto a live stage to give the effect that he is performing live which is also something that would be seen in this type of genre.

This still also supports Gauntlett's theory that the DJ is a traditional man. This is because he looks very dominant and lively.

This still is effective for giving the impression that the DJ is live on stage thanks to the green screening editing. The mid shot helps give focus onto the DJ and gives people the impression that he is using a DJ deck. However, it could have been better if there was a DJ deck to be shown as some people might think something else even with the headphones showing.
I would not use this representation in my music video as I think it is rather hard to display and analyse a certain image to the audience and it can be confusing.
