Different types of genre

There are different types of Genre in Music Videos. In this task, I have tried to demonstrate these genre using video effects and filters. Here, I have chosen the 3 most effective techniques for the genre of Image, Narrative and Performance.

I have decided that using video filters such as desaturation are an effective technique to help with the genre of Image. The use of this filter highlights the face and emphasises its features. Because the model has black hair, the video filter compliments this also, because it makes the still darker. The use of close up shot also helps to bring a focus pull on to his face.

This still shows the genre of Performance. Here, I have used the video effect of spilt screen on so that two different scene can be put into one shot. This technique helps to emphasis the genre of Performance. In this still, both the pianist and the singer are in one shot. This is important because it helps inform the audience that there is a band by showing two performers performing to the one song. The still also included props such as the piano. This has a clear connotation to bands and performance.

For the genre of Narrative, I have decided that the best and most effective technique to use is the use of text.

These two stills are very similar in that the use of the video effect: Spilt screen is used and that the use of props are identical. The only difference between the two stills are that on the real Music video, there are two shots of the same performer rather than our still In which there is a shot of the pianist and the singer.
