Paul Thomas Anderson's Music Videos

Paul Thomas Anderson is an American Film director, screenwriter and producer. He has directed music videos such as Try by Michael Penn, Fiona Apple's "Across the Universe" and "Fimp". His style of music videos includes a lot of performance, there is a sense darkness in each of his music videos. He uses the use of black and white filters to connote sad and lonely times  as seen on "Across the Universe". He is also famous for his work on films, having won numerous awards for "There will be blood" and "Magnolia"

In each of his music videos, there is an obvious artistic atmosphere through the sense of spectacle. As seen on "Across the Universe" she spins around the set, although rather strange, it creates the sense that she is loosing control of her life and her self. This use of subtle connotations Is consistent through all of the three music videos. There are links between the music and the videos on the screen which allows his music videos to also have narrative.
